About me

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you are unsure where to begin. My role is to create a space where you feel safe, respected, and supported at your own pace.

I am Bianca Sanchez, a registered clinical Social Worker and the proud owner of Solace Therapy. I earned my B.A. (Hons) from Brock University, my M.S.W. from the University of Toronto with a specialization in Mental Health, Health, and Addiction Studies, and I completed a Rehabilitation Therapy certificate at McMaster University focusing on Acquired Brain Injuries. I am also completing a diploma in Addiction Studies at McMaster University.

Over the years, I have worked in hospitals and community agencies across Hamilton and the surrounding areas. My experience includes addictions counselling, facilitating groups, and providing support to children and youth in foster care. I have also volunteered as a Grant and Research Writer for Liberty for Youth, a charity I continue to support. Currently, I work at St. Joseph’s Healthcare in Hamilton in the schizophrenia inpatient unit, and I have previously worked in the outpatient Geriatric Psychiatry clinic.

I entered the field of social work with a deep commitment to helping vulnerable people. My work is grounded in anti-oppressive principles, trauma-informed care, and social justice, with a primary focus on mental health, addictions, and stress management.

In our work together, I draw from a variety of approaches including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Behavioural Activation, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing. This ensures that therapy is tailored to your needs and goals rather than following a one-size-fits-all process.

Most importantly, my approach is collaborative. You bring your life story, and together we will explore, unpack, and reclaim it so you can move toward therapeutic healing and meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.
